On Aug. 27, 2019, residents, associates and guests at Life Care Center of Morehead, Kentucky, were anxiously anticipating Elvis’ arrival.
Lundie Wright Sr. regularly preforms his Elvis impersonation around the area, including the local Life Care facility.
“Is it time for Elvis yet?”
This question was asked throughout the facility up to a week before the Elvis event. Resident Carolyn Hurst is one of Wright’s biggest fans. She geared up for the occasion early that morning, sat in the cafeteria and waited for her favorite event of the month to start. After a crowd of about 50 gathered, Elvis entered the building styling a pair of sunglasses, voluminous hair and a bright red jumpsuit adorned with rhinestones.
Wright’s persona of Elvis is demonstrated from singing and dancing to small mannerisms unique to the rock ‘n’roll legend. Ladies “Can’t Help Falling in Love” whenever the Elvis look-a-like rounds the audience for individual pictures and to pass out scarfs to each of them. The monthly event is so popular that associates get regular phone calls from the public asking when Wright will be there next.
It is safe to say Wright has brought immeasurable joy to the residents, associates and guests of the facility whenever he performs Elvis’ greatest hits. Still full of excitement and nostalgia, the residents start the countdown to next month’s visit from “The King.”
